EGF leader mull over promotion campaign pitch

By Doug Barrett Mar 11, 2021 | 8:49 AM

East Grand Forks council heard a pitch this week intended to help promote the city’s business sector.

Gary Shields urged members to consider putting public dollars into a grassroots campaign to help struggling businesses recover from the pandemic.  Shields says The Chamber does a great job but businesses in East Grand Forks make up less than ten-percent of the overall membership.  He says a stand-along campaign targeting East Grand Forks would help during these “unique” times.  “The Chamber is there to do a great job for us – but we need to help ourselves a bit and it’s a way to try and get a movement to say let’s do this and see what happens.”

The council took no immediate action on the request.
