GF to extend Emergency Health Declaration

By Doug Barrett Mar 9, 2021 | 8:19 AM

The Grand Forks council is ready to extend the Emergency Declaration related to COVID-19 until the end of June.  During last night’s Committee of the Whole meeting members agreed to the move in order to the pave the way for state and federal funding associated with the pandemic.  City Administrator Todd Feland says it just makes sense at this point in time.  “It’s not to say you can’t receive the funds…but we can demonstrate we were in an emergency with an order.”

Feland says it’s likely that over the course of the next 90 days the city will be well along on the path of vaccinating anyone who wants a shot.  Final adoption of the extension will be made at next week’s regular council meeting.
