North Dakota House joins Senate on mid-session vacation

By Doug Barrett Feb 25, 2021 | 7:42 AM

Members of North Dakota’s House of Representatives were heading home for a break after acting on the remainder of their bills proposed in the first half of legislative session. The Senate adjourned for vacation on Tuesday. Lawmakers will resume their work on March 3. The mid-session break is known as “crossover.” In the second half of the Legislature, the Senate holds hearings and votes on bills that were first introduced in the House, and the House does the same for Senate measures. Wednesday was the 34th day of meetings. In recent years, the session has lasted more than 70 days. The North Dakota Legislature meets every other year.
