The Grand Forks School Board has agreed to transition high school students back to classroom learning starting March 8th. Students have been in a hybrid model due to COVID-19. The board approved in-person learning on a unanimous vote. Several board members questioned whether March 8th gave teachers and staff enough time to prepare. Board member Shannon Mikula says there’s no need to rush back. “I think our system works great and a majority are doing successfully in a hybrid.”
Board member Bill Palmiscno says students want to come back and parents are concerned about grades and emotional issues. “I am very happy that public health is on board. I think we’ve followed public health throughout this whole COVID deal.”
The board approved the March 8th return date 7-2.
