
Former Minnesota Twins coach Wayne Terwilliger died today (Wed) in Texas at age 95.
Terwilliger was the first-base coach on the Twins’ world championship teams of 1987 and 1991.
The man known as “Twig” spent a lifetime in baseball.
Terwilliger was a major league second baseman from 1949 to 1960.
He coached nine years with the Twins and later served as a coach with the minor-league St. Paul Saints. He was active in the game until 2010.
Terwilliger reportedly suffered from dementia and bladder cancer.
