GF leaders watching latest bonding bill developments

By Doug Barrett Jan 20, 2021 | 1:04 PM

A paired down bonding bill making its way through the legislative process in Bismarck is cause for concern among Grand Forks city leaders. GOP Leaders this week unveiled a re-worked bill that totals some $800 million dollars – less than the $1.1 billion originally proposed. Mayor Brandon Bochenski says the changes are not as friendly to Grand Forks. City Administrator Todd Feland says the bill isn’t as good as it used to be. “We will have some work to do on that bill to try and meet some of the needs we have in Grand Forks…so…it’s not a game-changer as it was when it entered the session.”

Instead of road projects the legislation puts more focus on water infrastructure. It could also put projects like the $45 million dollar 42nd Street underpass in doubt.
