Friday fire damages GF home

A home on the 900 block of Oak Street in Grand Forks sustained significant fire and smoke damage this morning (Friday).

The Grand Forks Fire Department responded to the blaze around 8:30 a.m.

When crews arrived, they encountered smoke coming from the structure. Crews quickly knocked down the flames.

Officials say residents were not home at the time, but they have been displaced.

Crews removed three pets from the home, but they did not survive.

A Fire Department spokesman says the fire appears to have started in the kitchen area. But the cause is under investigation.

The Grand Forks Fire Department responded with five engines, one truck and one command vehicle with 19 personnel. Grand Forks police and Altru ambulance assisted.

No one was injured when a fire damaged a home on the 900 block of Oak Street this morning (Friday).

The Grand Forks Fire Department responded to the blaze around 8:30 a.m. When crews arrived on scene they encountered smoke coming from the structure. Crews quickly knocked the flames down. A damage estimate was not immediately available. A fire spokesman says it appears to have started in the kitchen area.

Multiple trucks responded. The GFFD was assisted by Grand Forks police and Altru ambulance. The cause is under investigation.
