(KNOX) -Grand Forks approved the reappointment of Daniel Gaustad as the city attorney.

Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski said that Gaustad has done a lot of good for the city. “I just want to thank Mr. Gaustad for the last four years. There is an attachment on there as well. You can see that I think we are getting quite the value. It’s not just about the dollar amount, but I think the legal expertise that we’ve been getting has been phenomenal over the four years. And we surely needed it. So we appreciate the work you have done and your whole team has done,” said Boschenski.

Bochenski said that the city needs the legal know-how that Gaustad brings. “Not only on the city attorney side, but now taking over the city prosecution side. I know the judge left, but I heard that we set a recent record in fines collected. I don’t know if that is a good or bad thing, but something is getting done. So we appreciate that,” Boschenski said at a recent council meeting.

According to his biography on the Pearson Christensen, PLLP website, Daniel Gaustad was born in Grafton, North Dakota on November 27, 1966. He was admitted to bar in 1994 in Montana and the U.S. District Court, District of Montana. In 1995 he was admitted to the bar in North Dakota and has also been admitted to the U.S. District Court, District of North Dakota and the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Gaustad received his B.A., magna cum laude from the University of North Dakota in 1989 and his J.D., with distinction, in 1994. He was a member of Order of the Coif.

He is a member of the State Bar of North Dakota. Additionally he serves as an adjunct professor of law at the University of North Dakota School of law, teaching a Modern Real Estate course.

Gaustad was reappointed by a unanimous vote of Grand Forks City Council.
