(KNOX) -The Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office Location Committee has come up with two proposals to present to the county commission regarding the future location of the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office.
The committee will recommend that the Grand Forks County Commission consider plans for the renovation and or demolition of the old county jail and a build-to-lease proposal for the new sheriff’s office.

“And then we’re also needing to put together a request for proposals or a request for qualifications for professional services from and architect or an engineer to remodel and or demo the old jail for a law enforcement center,” Grand Forks County Administrator Tom Ford said.
Ford said that they will go before the county commission at their first meeting in July. “So the goal is to present those drafts to the county commission on the Second of July,” said Ford.
The Grand Forks County Sherriff’s Office is sharing space with the Grand Forks City Police department.
The Grand Forks City police department would like to expand into where the sheriffs’ office is located.
