The opening day headcount for the Grand Forks School District shows a slight uptick in numbers.
The tally for the first week suggests 7,489 students are hitting the books to start to 2022-23 school year.
That would be 131 students more than what the district reported at the beginning of last year. It would also be an increase of 79 over what the demographer reported for the 2021-22 year. RSP & Associates projected just shy of 7,500 students for the current year.
School Superintendent Terry Brenner says the upward trajectory is good news for the district and community. “Today feels like a new day with student numbers up 131 from the opening week one year ago.”
An official enrollment report will be completed at the end of September.
