North Dakota Superintendent Kirsten Baesler traveled to Grand Forks today to honor Shari Jerde as  a state finalist for Teacher of the Year.  Jerde teaches business education and family and consumer science at Community High School.

Baesler says Jerde is an example of the best of the best.  She says being nominated as a top teacher is like “a big homework assignment and Jerde got an A plus.”

The other finalists are Bret Dockter of Harvey Elementary School…Heather Ell of Hoeven Elementary in Minot…and Matt Nielsen at Valley City High School.

Jerde began her career with the GFPS in 1999.  She left for a stint at Central Valley before coming back to Community High School in 2016.

The winner of the 2022 North Dakota Teacher of the Year will be announced on September 27th.
