(KNOX) -The City of Grafton will have a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for new workforce housing apartment buildings.
Grafton Mayor Chris West told KNOX News that it is a way for the city to expand.

“We’re excited as a small community that we’re able to put together a project that fit the needs of the community, a community that’s willing and wanting to grow,” West said.

This program is designed to promote workforce housing solutions in rural areas, helping communities attract and retain essential workers. Grafton, known for its strong community spirit and rich agricultural roots, is dedicated to fostering growth and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.

The addition of these new apartment buildings will not only provide much-needed housing options, but will also strengthen the local economy by supporting workforce retention and attracting new talent to the area for great companies such as Marvin Windows, a fantastic employer and partner in our community, West said.

“We are thrilled to celebrate this groundbreaking milestone with our partners,” West said. “This project is vital for Grafton’s continued growth and prosperity, ensuring that our workforce has access to quality housing locally.”

The two new apartment buildings will feature modern amenities, high-quality windows and doors. With construction led by MAK Construction of Grand Forks, the project is set to enhance the housing options available in the area and promote a sense of community among residents.

The ground breaking will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 14 at 925 School Road, Grafton.
