(KNOX) – Grand Forks City Council approved design plans for the projected Altru Sports Complex Monday night. City administrator Todd Feland said that the development would contain various settings.

“To approve the schematic design plan, right now the proposed plan is to include a 15-meter indoor pool, a 25-yard instructional pool,” Feland told city council this week.

Grand Forks City Council also approved the transfer of title to a 4-to-5 acre tract of land to the Jobs Development Authority for the Children’s Museum. The Jobs Development Authority reimbursing the City of Grand Forks for the value of the 4-to-5 acre parcel based on the per acre purchase price paid by the city.

The City of Grand Forks paid for the larger tract of land that contains or is adjacent to this 4-to-5 acre tract and recommended the JDA approve long-term-ground lease with the Children’s Museum, subject to final review and approval by the City Attorney.

The City Attorney will revise current agreement relating to contingent based funding by the City for the Children’s Museum.

“To move forward with design development and construction development is to approve an agreement with JLG Architects,” Feland told city council.

Grand Forks City Council was given a summary highlighting executive project summary, project programming, building design and project cost estimate forecast.

Construction of the proposed site is scheduled to begin next year.
