Members of The Grand Forks Fire Department to Collect Donations for the MDA

(KNOX) -Members of the Grand Forks Fire Department will be out this week collecting money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, starting Wednesday at certain city intersections.

“With our ‘Fill the Boot” drive. Wednesday September 25, we’ll be at Fourth Avenue South and Belmont,” Grand Forks Firefighter Joe Dewey told KNOX News.

On Thursday firefighters will be at South 20th Street and 40th Avenue. and Friday at 47th Avenue South and Cherry Street. They will asking for donations each day from about 3 to 7 p.m.

“Grand Forks Fire displays an unwavering support for MDA year after year, raising critical funds and awareness to help our families get the care they need,” Elizabeth Nelson, Regional Director of Fire Fighter Partnerships, said.

Dewey said that they always take safety into consideration.

“Always at four-way stops,” Dewey said. “Since 2016 we’ve raised $167,000 locally from the community of Grand Forks. We’d like to thank everybody for their donations in the past, and appreciate it if you would support us this year.”

“We are so thankful for their continued commitment to cure neuromuscular diseases and to protect everyone on the frontlines in our community. Grand Forks Local 242 is one of the top ten locals and leads the Midwest for dollars raised and we are so proud to have them in our corner in the fight against muscle disease,” Nelson said.
