(KNOX) -City Administrator Todd Feland gave the Grand Forks City Council an update on some major projects that his office is occupied on securing.

“The Forty-second, Demers, again we worked hard, and we finally got this federal grant, and it is important to note that is going to be completed in the 2028-29 time period,” Feland told the city council. “As we finish up one major project we’re going to be starting the next. And as you guys well know, we’ve even received a flexible transportation grant to next year to start doing 47th Avenue.”

Feland told the city council that due to the growth of the south end of Grand Forks is the reason why they should favor a certain bridge.

“Highlight the Merrifield Bridge as really important to get done. Because as we continue to move south over the next 20 years we’re going to want to get that corridor completed,” Feland said.

He said that growth in the south end of Grand Forks will be phenomenal.

“Because we’re going to grow there relatively quickly. So that is really important of why we emphasize the Merrifield Bridge corridor,” Feland said.
