(KNOX) – Youngsters took the opportunity to extinguish fires during an open house by the East Grand Forks Fire Department to mark Fire Prevention Week.
The kids were assisted with an extinguisher and the fire house. They learned that firefighters never enter a dwelling on fire unless they know where an exit is.
They learned about smoke alarms and how low firefighters need to be to stay below the smoke and flames… all while wearing a heavy coat and a hefty fire extinguisher.
The activities were flanked by five fire engines.
