Safe Kids Grand Forks Will Conduct a Child Seat Check Event

(KNOX) -Safe Kids Grand Forks will conduct a child seat event Saturday at Patch On The Point at Point Paradise Stables in East Grand Forks.

Carma Hanson of Safe Kids Grand Forks says the car seat event Saturday is from 1 to 3 p.m. at 440th Ave SW, East Grand Forks.

“People have questions on to use their seat properly. We will be conducting a check-up event at Patch On The Point,” Hanson told KNOX News.

According to Hanson, the vast majority of drivers who use a child car seat do not have it installed correctly.

“We found about an 80 percent misuse in those that we checked. That’s pretty normal,” Hanson said. “And it’s really important that people know and understand that car seats are incredibly helpful in protecting passengers in a crash, if they are used correctly.”

There is an incentive to have a car seat checked at the event.

“Everybody who attends and gets a car seat check will receive half-off admission to Patch On The Point,” Hanson said.
