Northwest Minnesota cities and counties to share in $21 million grant

(KNOX) – Several northwest Minnesota cities will share in $21 million grants from the Small Cities Development Program on the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
The funding will be used for commercial and residential property rehabilitation, public facility improvements and other economic development projects. Cities with fewer than 50,000 residents and townships and counties with fewer than 200,000 residents are eligible.
Climax will receive $546,168, and Fertile and Halstad $600,000 for water distribution lines.
Crookston receives $1,198,000 to rehab housing units and commercial buildings.
Park Rapids receives $1,003,900 to rehab rental housing and commercial property.
Marshall County will put $575,000 and Kittson County $563,000 toward repairs to 20 owner-occupied housing units.
