(KNOX) – Forty-nine people from 27 different nations, including several from the Philippines and a few from Canada, recited the Oath of Citizenship Tuesday to become U.S. citizens.
The Oath was administered by U.S. Magistrate Judge Alice Senechal in a second-floor ballroom of the Memorial Union during the University of North Dakota’s Constitution Day celebration.
All 49 petitioners have lived in North Dakota for a required three months. Before the ceremony, each of them reviewed their citizenship certificates for correct spelling of their names and countries of origin. They can apply for a U.S. passport.
