Grand Forks Police Identify Suspicious Device Left in Alerus Center Parking Lot

(KNOX) – On Tuesday the Grand Forks Police Department received a call for service regarding a suspicious device located in the parking lot of the Alerus Center.

A perimeter was established around the device, and the Grand Forks Regional BOMB Team was activated to assist with the incident.

During the investigation, it was determined that the device was a concrete pressure meter, which posed no threat to the public.

Video surveillance was obtained of the suspect vehicle that placed the device in the parking lot. Around 1:00 PM on September 10, a white SUV drove through the Alerus Center parking lot, placed the concrete pressure meter in the parking lot, and exited onto South 42nd Street.

The device was reported to the police at 1:34 PM. At this time, there is no known further information available to release to the public regarding the suspect vehicle.

During the investigation, surrounding businesses took precautions to ensure the safety of the occupants in their structures.

This is an open and ongoing investigation.
