(KNOX) -The most used yard waste site Grand Forks is the one that draws the most feedback for the Department of Public Works. That’s according to Grand Forks Public Works Director Sharon Lipsh.

“It’s the 47th Avenue South site, which surprised me when I looked at the data because it is such a small site. There’s only three grass containers there, but it is the busiest, but yet we get the most complaints about it,” Lipsh said.

The 47th Avenue South site is near Lift Station #26.

She said that operating yard waste sites throughout the city has it complications.

“Maintaining nine yard waste sites throughout the city comes with a few challenges,” Lipsh said.

A planned yard waste site by the City of Grand Forks is off of 57th Avenue near Lift Station #39.

“This site is proposed to have four brush containers, and three to four grass containers depending upon how we configure it. The estimated cost is around $230,000. That does not include land acquisition costs,” said Lipsh.

The opening of the planned site is dependent on the opening of another major project.

“The proposed opening would happen when the 47th Avenue Interchange at I-29 is open. That’s what we’re planning now,” Lipsh said.
