(KNOX) -The Grand Forks Growth Fund Committee approved loans for Red River Potatoes.

Jack Wiegand of Red River Potatoes said that the funds will help the company increase their potato processing and add workers at their Grand Forks site.

“By expanding our production we’re going to be increasing our through-put by a factor of 3X. So right now we are able to process around 15,000 pounds of potato waste an hour. We’re going to be able to increase that to 35,000,” Wiegand told the committee.

Kevin Hatcher of the Grand Forks Economic Development Corporation said that Red River Potatoes has been in Grand Forks for a few years.

“Established in Grand Forks back in 2021 on 2250 Mill Road, starting that additional potato drying facility.” Hatcher said before the committee.

The Grand Forks Growth Fund Committee approved two loans for Red River Potatoes totaling $421,342.60.
