Grand Forks City Council Awards Bid For Flood Protection Project

(KNOX) -Grand Forks City Council recently approved awarding a bid for flood outfall repairs.

Council member Rebecca Osowski is in favor of the project. “I really appreciate us using our flood protection money for flood protections,” said Osowski.

Four companies bid on the project. The low bidder came in at $117,874.00 for the project.

“So I think this is a perfect use of our money. Not redesigning a green way that would probably cost us more money with our flood protection money,” Osowski said before she made a motion to approve the bid.

The work will be done along North Washington Street. A ditch along North Washington allows water to enter into a diversion. Soil has infiltrated into a pipe causing a bit of what could be called a sink hole to develop in the area.

The project involves the contractor going in the area and making repairs to the structure. Work is slated to be done as soon as this summer or done by the fall.

The motion was approved unanimously by Grand Forks City Council.
