(KNOX) -Tuesday of this week the Grand Forks Sheriff’s Office Location Committee is scheduled to go before the county commission with plans for a new sheriff’s office home.

“A draft request for proposal where we’ll essentially have a developer build and we would lease. With options to renew, terminate or build. Key word is option,” Grand Forks County Administrator Tom Ford said.

Using the old county correctional facility in some fashion is also in the proposals. “We’re also needing to put together a request for proposal or a request for qualifications for professional services from an architect or an engineer to remodel and or demo the old jail for a law enforcement center,” said Ford.

The county sheriff’s office is sharing space with the Grand Forks City police department.

The City of Grand Forks Police Department would like to expand into the space that the sheriff’s office is using.
