(AP) – Former North Dakota state Senator Ray Holmberg will plead guilty to traveling to the Czech Republic to have sex with children.
In a plea agreement, Holmberg admits that he repeatedly traveled from North Dakota to Prague between 2011 and 2016 to have sex with adolescent-aged children and that there is enough evidence of it to find him guilty in court.
The maximum penalty for the crime is 30 years in prison, but as part of the plea agreement, the U.S. Justice Department will ask for a sentence on the low end of the spectrum.
The 79-year-old Holmberg also waives his right to an appeal.
A sentencing date has not been set.
