Governor Walz tours flood-ravaged northeast Minnesota counties

(KNOX) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has activated the State Emergency Operations Center to monitor flood conditions during the weekend.
Walz surveyed the flood damage Friday in Saint Louis County, deluged by seven-to-ten inches of rain… and parts of Carlton, Crow Wing, Lake and Itasca counties…which received two-to-six inches of rain.
Saint Louis County has declared a state of emergency. The declaration allows the county to access state disaster relief funding if the damage does not reach the required threshold for a federal major disaster declaration.
State funding includes The Disaster Assistance Contingency Account to help repair damage to public infrastructure; and The Transportation Disaster Account for damage to local highways.
