(AP) – A jury has convicted a North Dakota lawmaker of a conflict-of-interest crime related to budget bills he voted on and a state-leased building he has ownership ties to.
Republican Rep. Jason Dockter’s sentencing has not been scheduled. He declined to comment on Friday’s verdict.
Republican House Majority Leader Mike Lefor said he plans to review the statute and legislative rules involved and consult the state Ethics Commission regarding such conflict situations for legislators.
Democratic House Minority Leader Zac Ista has called on Dockter to resign. Dockter was first elected in 2012. He was most recently reelected in 2022 without opposition.
