(KNOX) – UND Athletics and Simplot celebrated the conclusion of the “Stopping Hunger” campaign for the 2023-24 athletic season with a special check presentation at Ralph Engelstad Arena on Monday.
Members of UND Athletics and Simplot presented a check of nearly $10,000 to Northlands Rescue Mission and United Way of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks to help stop hunger and food insecurities in our local region.
Nearly 40,000 pounds of food were donated in the first year of the campaign, which were raised by every volleyball block, football tackle, opponent missed shot in basketball and hockey save.
The campaign will commence again next season, with the goal to eclipse the 40,000-pound mark in food.
