Senior goaltender Ludvig Persson stopped all 35 shots fired his way to help North Dakota defeat Western Michigan, 3-0, and capture the Penrose Cup on Saturday.

UND (24-8-2, 15-6-1 NCHC) wins its 21st conference crown in program history and league-leading sixth Penrose Cup in 11 years.

North Dakota jumped out to an early lead on a breakaway goal as Louis Jamernik V scored just over four minutes into the game. Jackson Blake and Owen McLaughlin also score goals for UND.

North Dakota will close the regular season at Omaha next weekend.
