Report of an abduction in Polk County is unfounded

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has thoroughly investigated the report of the abduction of a 17 year old female in rural East Grand Forks. With new information gathered, the report is determined to be unfounded.

UPDATE:

After further investigation into this incident the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports that there is no known threat to the public at this time. The investigation is ongoing and further information will be released when available.

On 1/29/24 at approximately 1630 hours, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a female that was tied up and was located on the side of the roadway by a local resident, along 410th Ave SW in Bygland Township.

Polk County Deputies responded and located a 17 year old female who reported being abducted and brought to the above location. The female was checked and medically cleared by Altru Ambulance.

Polk County Deputies are actively investigating this incident. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is working to determine if there is a current threat to the public or if this is an isolated incident. Further information will be released as it becomes available.

Assisting Agencies were the Minnesota State Patrol and Altru Ambulance.
