The third GOP presidential debate of the primary campaign was held Wednesday night in Miami, but North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum was not among the five participants.

Burgum failed to meet certain thresholds set by the Republican National Committee to qualify for the debate.

Burgum issued a statement after the debate, saying: “Over two hours filled with petty attacks and in-fighting, voters learned why none of the career politicians on stage will be President.”

He said “political insiders have no business trying to artificially shrink the Republican field two months before…actual voting starts in Iowa and New Hampshire.”

Burgum added: “It’s going to take a business leader and political outsider to get the job done. That’s why I’m running for President.”
