Former Grand Forks boxer Virgil Hill officially receive his North Dakota Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider Award at an Oct. 30th ceremony in the Bismarck Event Center.

The ceremony starts at 6:00 PM in the arena where many of Hill’s matches were held. The festivities begin with a 5:00 PM reception.

The events are free and open to the public.

In August, Gov. Burgum announced that Hill would be the 48th recipient of the award, which is the state’s highest honor for its citizens.

Hill won a silver medal in the 1984 Olympics. He posted a professional record of 50 wins, and 7 losses, with 23 knockouts.

Hill is a member of the National Boxing Hall of Fame and International Boxing Hall of Fame.
