By Pat Sweeney Aug 16, 2023 | 12:22 PM

Chris Jones will resign as North Dakota’s Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner effective Sept. 15th.

Jones is pursuing a position as vice president and senior fellow at the Texas-based Cicero Institute, a nonpartisan public policy organization.

In 2017, Gov. Burgum appointed Jones as executive director of the Department of Human Services.

Jones has served as H-H-S commissioner since September 2022, following the integration of the departments of Health and Human Services.

Burgum has appointed H-H-S Deputy Commissioner Sara Stolt to serve as interim commissioner, effective Sept. 16.
