There’s good news and bad on the flu front in North Dakota. On the plus side positive case counts have been slowing in recent weeks. The bad news is activity this season now ranks as the second highest on record.
The North Dakota Health Department has confirmed 10,800 total cases to date – behind only the 12,502 influenza cases identified during the 2019-20 season.
The 31 influenza-related deaths this year also ranks second behind the 38 fatalities recorded during the 2009-10 season. A total of 385 people have been hospitalized with flu complications.
Grand Forks County has chipped in 1,083 positive cases this year.
