GF compiles 2023 legislative wish list

By Doug Barrett Nov 8, 2022 | 8:24 AM

The Grand Forks council has approved a priority list of items that they hope to navigate when the North Dakota Legislature meets in 2023.

The topics range from water and public safety to securing funding for large transportation projects.

The 42nd Street grade separation and the 47th Avenue interchange top the agenda.

City Administrator Todd Feland says absent from the list if an inner city bridge or a river crossing at Merrifield Road.  Feland says they didn’t make the list because the project is not yet in the shovel ready phase.

Council member Ken Vein says he understands why the bridge didn’t make the list – but it is in the current transportation plan.

One last minute item that was added to the priority list is funding for a children’s museum project.

On the topic of a new bridge the East Grand Forks council will consider hiring the consulting firm SRF when they meet tonight (Tuesday). The scoping phase would focus on potential river crossings at Elks drive… 32nd Avenue South…and Merrifield Road.  The $151,000 dollar cost would be split with Grand Forks.
