The Grand Forks School Board has voted to cut their pay in light of the district’s budget constraints. The move reduces compensation for sitting on the board by 500 dollars. Under the new formula each member will be paid 35-hundred dollars per year – with the board president earning four-thousand. Board member Meggen Sande offered the motion - which passed without dissent.

By comparison school board members in Fargo earn 12-thousand dollars….in Bismarck nine-thousand… and in Minot a school board representative is paid 72-hundred dollars.

The board also re-elected Doug Carpenter as president for the coming year.
