The NHL’s Minnesota Wild have fired head coach Bruce Boudreau with 24 games left in the regular season.

General manager Bill Guerin made the announcement on Friday.

The Wild are currently tied for 10th in the Western Conference at 27-23-and-7. The top eight teams make the playoffs.

In his four seasons with the Wild, Boudreau had a record of 158 wins, 110 losses and 35 overtime losses, but he was 2-and-8 in the playoffs.

Assistant coach Dean Evason, a native of Flin Flon, Manitoba, has been named interim head coach.
