The University of North Dakota unveiled its complete 2020-21 schedule, a slate that includes trips to Nashville, Tenn., and New York in the non-conference portion.
UND will also host longtime rival Minnesota Oct. 23-24 in an action-packed October for the Fighting Hawks. That series is nestled between an Oct. 17 showdown against Penn State in Nashville for the U.S Hockey Hall of Fame Game and the Halloween weekend at Cornell. The Big Red finished last year atop both national polls and North Dakota was the No. 1 team in the Pairwise Rankings.
The season officially gets underway Oct. 3 when the University of Manitoba visits for its nearly-annual exhibition visit. The regular season then commences with a home-and-home against Bemidji State. The Beavers will host Friday while Saturday will serve as the regular season home opener at the Ralph Engelstad Arena. North Dakota was 18-1 at home last season, setting the program mark for best home winning percentage (.947).
Three other non-conference opponents dot the schedule as Niagara will come to Grand Forks Nov. 27-28 and Northern Michigan will play a rare Saturday-Sunday series on Jan. 2-3. The U.S. Under 18 Team will provide another exhibition before the semester break on Dec. 12.
The previously-announced National Collegiate Hockey Conference schedule features two dozen games with home-and-home tilts against five of the seven other conference foes. North Dakota will not travel to St. Cloud State and Western Michigan will not come to the Ralph Engelstad Arena this coming season.
The Fighting Hawks open defense of their NCHC regular season title on Nov. 6-7 hosting St. Cloud State for their only regular-season meetings. UND then heads to Denver, where it picked up five league points last season on a 3-on-3 overtime win and a regulation win for the first series victory at Magness in 16 years.
The Miami RedHawks visit Grand Forks on Nov. 20-21 before the first half comes to a close with a trip to Omaha, Dec. 4-5.
In the second half, UND welcomes Colorado College back to the REA on Jan. 8-9, then returns the trip to Colorado Springs on Feb. 26-27. The heated series with Minnesota Duluth gets underway Jan. 15-16 in Duluth with the home games coming Feb. 19-20.
Denver (Jan. 22-23) and Omaha (Feb 19-20) are the other two home series in the second half while UND also makes trips to Miami (Jan. 29-30) and Western Michigan (Feb. 26-27).
The NCHC Quarterfinal weekend begins March 12 with the Frozen Faceoff set for March 19-20 in St. Paul, Minn. North Dakota is again a host for the NCAA Regionals this season, returning to Fargo's Scheels Arena for the fourth time since 2015.
The 2021 NCAA Frozen Four is set for April 9-10 in Pittsburgh, Pa., and PPG Paints Arena, home of the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins.
Season ticket renewals are available now in your "My North Dakota Account". The renewal deadline is May 31st. Single game tickets will go on sale on August 26th.
