University of North Dakota athletic department officials released the 2020 home football game times, promotional schedule, and ticket information for its five-game slate at the Alerus Center on Thursday. The schedule, which features home contests against four Missouri Valley Football Conference foes, will see the Fighting Hawks look to build upon their seven-game winning streak inside the Alerus Center.
For the third straight season, UND will begin the season on its own turf with a Thursday night showdown against Valparaiso on Sept. 3 at 6:30 p.m. The Hawks will look to extend the FCS' longest winning streak in home debuts to 34 consecutive victories and improve to 2-1 all-time against the Crusaders. North Dakota Athletics will also be celebrating former football player Hunter Pinke and his inspiring story of recovery with the first-annual #PinkeStrong game.
Following a pair of games on the road, the Hawks will return to Grand Forks to kick-off the home portion of the MVFC schedule against South Dakota State at 1 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the Potato Bowl USA game and Family Weekend. The 86th meeting between the storied rivals will be the first conference game since 2003 and the first overall since 2013, which was also a Potato Bowl USA tilt. UND is 42-12 in Potato Bowl USA history.
A week later, Missouri State returns to the Alerus Center for the second time in its history for the Homecoming and Hall of Fame game on Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. UND rolled over the Bears, 34-0, back in 2017 and will look to make it five wins in its last seven tries on Homecoming Saturday.
South Dakota and North Dakota are set to close the month of October in Grand Forks at 1 p.m. in a Halloween contest, as the Hawks look to extend their dominance over the Coyotes. Since a home defeat in 1985, UND has rattled off 13 straight victories in the Grand Cities over USD while also claiming 22 of the 28 meetings since 1985.
UND closes the regular season and the home slate on Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. against Southern Illinois, as the Hawks will honor all military personnel and their senior class. Despite plenty of coaching connections over each school's history, this will only mark the second game between the two programs and the first since 2008.
All five of UND's home games will be broadcasted by either Midco Sports Network or through the MVFC's partnership with ESPN3/+ as well as the Home of Economy Radio Network.
Season ticket holders can renew their tickets with three options: choose the same seats, request to relocate to another section or request to add seats. The renewal process will begin on April 14 and end on May 31, taking place entirely through the "My North Dakota Account" at FightingHawks.com/tickets.
