Wells Concrete to close GF production operation

Wells Concrete says it is closing the production portion of its Grand Forks operation in mid-December, affecting 92 employees.
Company president Dan Juntunen said the decision was made because much of the company’s business is tied to agriculture and oil, adding that construction has been "hit or miss." He said the company has struggled with the issue for a couple of years.
Juntunen said non-production employees will remain in Grand Forks.
Juntunen said Wells is offering to help Grand Forks employees who may want to transfer to other company locations such as Denver or the home base in Albany (MN).
Juntunen said Wells will continue serving the Grand Forks area through its Albany plant.
He said Wells has done business in Grand Forks since 1994 when it bought Concrete Inc.
