The days are numbered for the University of North Dakota’s Memorial Stadium. The State Board of Higher Education approved plans today to raze the aging structure.
The 1927 built stadium was home to U-N-D football until 2001 when games were moved inside to the Alerus Center. A 2018 scan of the building revealed some sections of the brick veneer had shifted more than five-inches creating safety concerns.
It’s estimated that U-N-D will save around $200,000 dollars annually by no longer maintaining the building. Razing the structure will also generate new ground lease revenue.
The cost - and timeline for demolition - was not released.
