The State Board of Higher Education’s Budget and Finance Committee has approved an agreement between UND’s Alumni Association and the Grand Forks Growth Fund.
The city has pledged $1.33 million over 10 years to be used in the construction of the new Nistler Hall business college building.
The city would also get a cost-free 50-year lease for a City Workforce Center in the building, according to UND’s V-P for Finance and Operations Jed Shivers.
Shivers said the Alumni Association and Foundation raised $50 million to match the state’s $20 million for Nistler Hall. He said the city’s pledge was one of the last “ifs” of the match.
UND’s request for an extra $950,000 for the third-floor renovation of O’Kelly Hall was also okayed by the Committee.
The project expanded when additional space was planned for UND’s Teaching Transformation and Development Academy, boosting the price tag to $3.7 million.
UND says money to cover the extra cost comes from appropriated funds.
The full board will take up the requests
on Sept. 24th.
