The eighth and final North Dakota medical marijuana dispensary is expected to open Friday in Dickinson.
For Jason Wahl, the director of North Dakota’s medical marijuana program, it marks a long-awaited milestone.
“Our goal was to have all eight dispensaries operational by the end of 2019,” Wahl said. “The first one (in Fargo) opened March 1, so in a ten-month time period, we were able to get all eight dispensaries operational.”
The Grand Forks dispensary, Strive Life, opened in May.
The state also has its two manufacturing facilities up and running. The Bismarck facility opened in March.
“About the middle of September, the Fargo manufacturing facility came to market with a very limited supply of products and we expect that they will continue to keep bringing product to market over the next couple of months,” Wahl said.
Wahl said so far this year, more than 1,850 ID cards have been issued to qualifying patients.
Wahl said North Dakota is the first state in the nation to add an electronic option for patients, caregivers and agents of dispensaries and manufacturing facilities.
