A 51-year old Grand Forks man faces numerous charges after trying to flee police early this morning.
Authorities say an officer spotted the suspect driver - known to have a suspended license - on the 12-hundred block of University Avenue shortly before 3:30 a-m. The G-F-P-D says Shawn Bjerke drove to the 300 block of North 12th Street and stopped when officers initiated their overhead lights.
Police say Bjerke exited his vehicle and was addressed by the officers. At that time he jumped back into the driver's seat and fled until a PIT maneuver stopped him on the 1000 block of 15th Avenue South a few minutes later.
Bjerke was transported to Altru Hospital after complaining of neck pain. He is being charged with fleeing in a motor vehicle…reckless endangerment… DUI…driving under suspension…possession of meth…paraphernalia…LSD…and possession of marijuana.
