Active and new cases of COVID-19 have been falling in Grand Forks County in recent days. The trend has not resulted in a reduced risk level from the state – yet. Grand Forks was one of eight counties that got bumped from a “green” or low risk to a “yellow” or moderate risk zone on September 3rd.
Michael Dulitz of the Grand Forks Health Department told council members this week that unless the pattern changes the county should be back to green soon. He says the governor's matrix uses a 14 day trend line so it can slow changes down.
The Grand Forks health dashboard has the local hospital capacity in a “yellow” risk level. City Administrator Todd Feland says it’s important to put that in perspective. Feland says Altru is busy and it has nothing to do with COVID.
Active cases in Grand Forks County number 246. Two weeks ago the figure topped the 500 mark.
By comparison Burleigh County has 545 active cases and Cass sits at 405.
