A deal has been reached between the U-S Attorney’s Office and the owners of Joe Blacks and the Hub Pub in downtown Grand Forks over ADA violations.
The corrective measures resolve complaints that the businesses lacked dining and black jack gaming spaces to accommodate wheelchairs. Under federal law private businesses that operate places of “public accommodation” are prohibited from discrimination on the basis of disability.
As part of the agreements both restaurant facilities will provide accessible dining tables and accessible gaming space. U-S Attorney Drew Wrigley noted the owners cooperated throughout the investigation and he commended their commitment to the ADA.
2020 marks the 30th Anniversary of the American with Disability Act.
