Construction on the downtown DeMers Avenue project is slightly behind schedule. City officials say work continues on the nine-point-nine million dollar reconstruction from the Sorlie Bridge to 6th Street. Work crews are trying to ready a portion of the road for traffic by the start of school. K-12 classes in Grand Forks are set to resume the week of August 26th.
City Engineer Al Grasser says some delays can’t be controlled - like traffic lights. Grasser says the poles are on backorder and may not go in until this winter.
The bulk of the work is expected to be wrapped up by November.
