Burgum - MN Shelter At Home

North Dakota Governor Burgum says his Minnesota counterpart did not ask him to close this state’s borders. Burgum visited with Governor Walz prior to Wednesday's order asking Minnesotans to stay home for two weeks to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Burgum says the both states have the same goal - but North Dakotans don’t need more government intervention. He adds there are 71-thousand square miles in North Dakota and there are a lot of ways for people to not only be six feet away from each other but be a mile away from seeing a neighbor.
The governor says he understands why a state with a large population center may make what looks like a tough call to rural areas. According to Burgum people have tried in other states to say this order only applies to a metro area but that just pushes people to bars and restaurants outside the impacted area.
With that said North Dakota’s top elected leader says you never say never regarding further restrictions.
North Dakota’s COVID-19 positive count stands at 52.
