After highlighting 2019 accomplishments Grand Forks Mayor Mike Brown kept one eye on the future in his State of the City address this afternoon.
Brown plugged the need to improve the overall health of residents and neighborhoods. He noted that Grand Forks was ranked 21st among North Dakota counties for overall health. He set a five year goal of climbing into a top five finish.
Brown also outlined steps to boost the retail sector and challenged the chamber and C-V-B to develop unique attractions. One thing the city can do to promote retail is to remove bureaucratic obstacles for new and expanding ventures.
The mayor also wants to plant a seed to become a top ten college town and boost tech startups and related jobs. Brown wants to position the city as a “growth center for the digital innovation economy.”
In his State of the City comments the mayor said “Grand Forks is solid and resilient to its core.”
