NDSU to eliminate two colleges

By Doug Barrett Jan 26, 2023 | 1:12 PM

The North Dakota Board of Higher Education today (Thursday) passed a resolution in support of a round of budget cuts announced this week by NDSU President David Cook.

In an effort to deal with a looming $10 million dollar budget shortfall the Fargo campus plans to eliminate two of seven colleges.  The move could result in the loss of up to 35 full-time employees.

In a statement to the campus community President Cook called the cuts “difficult” adding the reality is that the operational structures have not kept pace with the marketplace and resulting enrollment declines.

Cook thanked the board for their support.  “It’s a hard day and hard week…but excited about the direction.”

Students enrolled in academic programs being impacted by the move will have an opportunity to complete degrees or change majors.
